PAX Prime 2014: How The Sims 4 Nailed It!

Melissa

Of all the PAX events I’ve gone to over the years, nothing equals the awesome that was The Sims 4 celebration event.

On Friday and Saturday of PAX Prime, The Sims 4 took over a little place called Lost Lake Cafe. Literally. The cafe was a 20 minute walk off site of the convention center and promised free coffee and pancakes. I don’t even like pancakes or coffee but, as a fan of The Sims franchise, I figured it was worth checking out.

Upon arrival I felt like I had just been imported into The Sims. There were several Sims (actors dressed, acting, and talking like Sims) scattered all over the cafe.

Pancake Bob was sitting out front in his red robe. I was greeted with a barrage of “Sul Sul”s and was presented with my very own light-up plumbob (the green diamond found above all Sims’ heads).

All around me recognizable Sims experiences were happening. One Sim jumped up on a table and started a singing performance for Sims that gathered around. Some Sims cheered in approval while others booed and gave thumbs down.Sims 02

A lover’s quarrel broke out between Bella and Mortimer Goth. A marriage proposal took place (she said Hibt/Deepwa). There was dancing. There was a fight.

I indulged in some chocolate chip pancakes that were actually really tasty. A Sim came over to keep me company and tried to engage me in conversation. I think he asked me about my fitbit, so I blabbed about that for a little while. I responded to his Simlish with lots of nodding.

It was all amazing. Bravo to the people who put the event together and congratulations on the launch of The Sims 4, something I downloaded as soon as I got home from PAX Prime.
